WNBF Portugal — Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 31 May 2026
About Membership
All Portuguese citizens and permanent residents, as well as Portuguese citizens residing outside Portugal, are eligible to apply for a WNBF Portugal membership. Membership is valid until the end of the calendar year in which it is purchased.
What is the membership fee for?
Your membership and entry fee allows WNBF Portugal to run events and fund the drug testing of athletes at competitions. We pride ourselves on providing an official drug testing programme to keep the sport clean. Each drug test has a significant cost, and your contribution ensures we are able to fulfil this commitment at all our events.
WNBF Portugal has a Code of Conduct and a Common Decency Policy for its members, in place to foster an atmosphere of respect amongst all members. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in suspension. WNBF Portugal reserves the right to decline membership to any individual without the right to appeal.
Membership Terms & Conditions
Please ensure you have read and agreed to all of the terms and conditions below before submitting your registration.
- A membership must be purchased prior to competing.
- Membership and entry fees are strictly non-refundable.
- Proof of age is required at the time of registration for age-restricted classes (Teen, Junior, Masters).

Code of Conduct & Common Decency
All rules apply to members both in person and online.

- Members should act with common decency, good faith, honesty, and integrity.
- Members should respect the culture and all officials and associates of WNBF Portugal.

- Members should report any violations of WNBF Portugal’s anti-doping rules to the designated drug control officer.
- Members accept that by standing on the WNBF Portugal stage, they are asking to be judged by a panel of their peers.
- Members are responsible for ensuring their own physical fitness and health before participating in any activities or competitions. WNBF Portugal is not liable for any injuries or health issues that may arise during any events.
Anti-Doping
Drug testing is the foundation of natural bodybuilding and a top priority for WNBF Portugal. Our reputation is built on strict adherence to drug testing rules — athletes deserve to compete in a clean sport.
- To participate in a WNBF Portugal approved competition, athletes may be required to submit up to two (2) drug screening tests to confirm the absence of any steroids, hormones, prohormones, prescription diuretics, and any other substances that WNBF Portugal deems illegal. Tests may include polygraphic examinations (lie detector) and urine analysis.
- All WNBF Portugal athletes must be a minimum of 10 years drug-free from all Anabolic Androgenic Agents, Peptides, HGH, Growth Hormones, and pharmaceutical hormones on the banned substance list. A minimum of two years free of over-the-counter hormones, pro-hormones, or other banned substances is also required.
- All members are required to comply with both in-season and out-of-season random drug testing upon proper notification from WNBF Portugal. Failure to participate in testing without valid reason will be treated as a drug test failure and will result in immediate membership termination.
- Refusal to submit to any drug test will be treated as a failed test.
- All drug test results, whether passed or failed, will be made public by WNBF Portugal. By purchasing a membership, athletes give their full consent for WNBF Portugal to publicly disclose their test results, including polygraph and urine test outcomes.
- The cost of the urine test on competition day is included in the membership and entry fee. No additional payment is required regardless of the result.
- If an athlete fails the WNBF Portugal drug test or does not comply with all WNBF Portugal rules and regulations, they will be excluded from the competition and lose their eligibility at the WNBF for 10 years or more. As of January 2022, failures for anabolic-androgenic steroids, growth hormones, peptides, SARMs, and other oral or injectable PEDs will incur a lifetime ban.
Supplements
Athletes should be aware that some supplements may contain prohibited substances. Not all supplements are made with natural bodybuilders in mind. Athletes are fully responsible for any substances they consume. If in doubt about any substance or supplement, consult the WADA code or contact us directly. Ignorance is not considered a valid excuse.
Athlete Right to Drug Test Documentation
All athletes have the right to receive their full laboratory report for any drug test conducted on them, including analytical findings, chain of custody records, and all supporting documentation. This will be provided following review by WNBF Portugal officials, ensuring transparency and the athlete’s right to independent review.
Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE)
If you are currently using any medication that places you in violation of the WADA code (e.g. insulin), you must contact WNBF Portugal and apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) before competing. A doctor’s note confirming the medication’s therapeutic use is required. All TUEs are handled on a case-by-case basis. Failure to apply for a TUE may result in a violation of WNBF Portugal rules.
Banned Associates
Members found to be trafficking and/or prescribing performance and image enhancing drugs (PIEDs) will be suspended from WNBF Portugal. Any coach working with athletes who are subsequently suspended for doping may also be considered a banned associate. WNBF Portugal members should not work with banned associates.
Additional Consents
- Members give consent for their images, videos, and competition results to be used by WNBF Portugal for promotional and media purposes.
- Members authorise WNBF Portugal to send information by e-mail.
